Federal and State Marijuana Limits, Limit Arizona Medical Marijuana Patient Medication ( Part 3 )

Part 3 of Federal and State Marijuana Limits, Limit Arizona Medical Marijuana Patient Medication is focused around medication availability for patients. Arizona Medical Marijuana Growers Association is diligently working to keep potential Arizona medical marijuana patients in Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, Mesa, Prescott, Flagstaff, Sedona, Tucson and around the state informed on any possible flaws in the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act Draft. The following estimated numbers are based on following all state and federal laws.

Patient needs:
An mmj patient may legally acquire 2.5 oz every 2 weeks
2.5 x 26 ( number of 2 week periods in a year ) = 65 oz
65 oz % 16 ( number of oz in a pound ) = 4.0625 ( pounds per year a patient may acquire )

Dispensary 198 plant medication maximums:
*Estimates are based on a dispensary harvesting 2 oz, 4 oz, and 6 oz medical marijuana plants*
Pounds per year      2 oz = 99     4 oz = 198     6 oz= 297
Patient medication limit per year 4.0625 pounds
99 % 4.0625 = 24.37     198 % 4.0625 = 48.74     297 % 4.0625 = 73.11

So what these numbers are saying is that, staying in state and federal guidelines, a dispensary could potentially only be able to provide medical marijuana to 24-73 patients every year from the legal amount of marijuana they can cultivate. Multiply even the highest of patients number by the 125 dispensaries allotted in the state and you get 9,125 patients per year that can receive medical marijuana grown by an Arizona medical marijuana dispensary. Less than 10,000 people statewide, of a population of approximately 6 and 1/2 million people, many of whom are seniors.

Avoiding State and Federal prosecution by following all laws makes a dispensary unable to provide an adequate amount of medication to supply the future licensed medical marijuana patients in Arizona. Though the 70/30 dispensary marijuana allocation rules ( R9-17-309. C ) have been discarded; the new zoning regulations proposed make it nearly impossible to legally cultivate medical marijuana as a patient or a caregiver; thus limiting the amount of medicinal cannabis a dispensary can allocate from outside sources. Dispensaries will not have enough medical marijuana to keep their shelves stocked and their doors open, once again hurting legal medical marijuana patients in Arizona.

Everyone in the Arizona medical marijuana community please get involved: comment on the AZDHS draft, attend public AZDHS meetings, join local activist groups, anything! If We in the Arizona mmj community do nothing then we can kiss our long awaited medical marijuana program goodbye, the State and Federal government will make sure of that.

Arizona Marijuana Caregivers Q & A: ( Part 2 )

We at Arizona Medical Marijuana Growers Association would like to thank everyone for the feed back on Arizona Marijuana Caregivers ( Part 1 ). Our association is dedicated to informing all interested parties about medical marijuana laws in Arizona and around the Country. After reviewing the most recent emails; these are the most asked questions about Arizona Marijuana Caregivers.

Q- Where can I grow legal medical marijuana in Arizona as a caregiver?

A- This is one of the questions we just can give a definitive answer for yet. Until all state and zoning laws are in place it is difficult to say where a designated caregiver will be allowed to grow medical marijuana. Zoning still isn’t finalized in Tempe, Scottsdale, Chandler, Phoenix, Flagstaff, and many other cities. Tomorrow the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act Draft  revisions will be released for public comment, and with that hopefully a clearer picture will be drawn for medical marijuana caregivers. As the AZDHS draft stands, patients cannot cultivate marijuana within 25 miles of a dispensary; and to be a caregiver you must be a patient; so it stands to reason that a caregiver must live more than 25 miles from a dispensary. The one bright side is that for the first year, because there are no dispensaries yet,  qualified mmj card holders can grow their own medication. Once many of these patients go to renew their medical marijuana license, however, they will be forced to stop growing because a dispensary opened within 25 miles of them.

Q- When can I start growing medical cannabis as a caregiver?

A- As an Arizona medical marijuana caregiver you cannot start growing medical cannabis for patients until you receive your mmj caregiver card. This won’t be till April, unfortunately. So as of now, even with your medical marijuana doctor recommendation, you cannot grow medical marijuana for patients yet.

Q- When I become a legal medical marijuana caregiver, how do I find marijuana patients?

A- There are easy ways and hard ways of finding medical marijuana patients in Arizona. The hard way would be asking around, whether it be with your doctor, other mmj patients, or friends. This way to find marijuana patients is not only difficult, but also time consuming. The easy way would be to join Az Green Caregivers Team. As a member of Arizona Medical Marijuana Growers Association Green Caregivers Team, you can access the directory of members and find patients that are in need of a designated caregiver. You can also post a message in the forum letting patients in your area know that you are available. On your member profile you can even list your strains, the nutrients you use, and what medical marijuana products you have ( ie. smokeables, edibles, oils, ect. )

Thanks again to everyone for their questions and input, please keep it coming. Arizona Medical Marijuana Growers Association is here to keep the medical marijuana community connected. Tomorrows AZDHS Draft revision release will spurn a new slew of questions, so keep posted for more Arizona marijuana Caregiver questions.

Arizona Marijuana Caregivers Q & A: (Part 1)

We at Arizona Medical Marijuana Growers Association have received many emails and phone calls regarding Arizona Marijuana Caregivers. Though some of your questions are simple to answer; others we cannot due to the stage the legislative  process is in. The answers are simply undecided. We are working our hardest to keep everyone informed, and stay informed ourselves; and we thought it was time to publish a few of the most popular questions.

Q- What is a caregiver?

A- A caregiver is a medical marijuana patient who cultivates up to 12 marijuana plants for themselves and, in Arizona, up to 5 other  patients with the total maximum of 72 plants. An Arizona marijuana caregiver must have a valid Arizona Medical Marijuana Card,  register, and be approved through the state to become a licensed marijuana caregiver. Once licensed they must comply with all state laws, including dispersing overages. Which leads to another popular question.

Q- What does an Arizona marijuana caregiver do when they harvest more medical marijuana than they can legally possess?

A- They must donate it to another caregiver or dispensary. This has been a problem in other states because there hasn’t been an established method for everyone in the medical marijuana community to communicate. Licensed marijuana caregivers in other states have had law enforcement issues due to having too much medicine on supply, we at AZMMGA are working with you to help alleviate this problem. As a Semi-Public social network now, once the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act is in full effect,  AzGreenCaregivers.com will activate the medical marijuana card holding members private social network. This marijuana social network will allow patients, caregivers, and dispensary owners to personally interact in a professional and easy to access environment without the public eye. All members approved into this private social network will be verified as a valid Arizona medical marijuana card holder.

The third most asked question about an Arizona Marijuana Caregiver is:

Q- Where will  Arizona marijuana caregivers be located?

A- Caregivers will be all over the valley and state. We at Arizona Medical Marijuana Growers Association (AzMMGA) have potential caregivers in Phoenix, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, Glendale, Flagstaff, Prescott, Tucson, Chandler, Gilbert, Showlow, Sedona, and many others. Every city in Arizona has the same medication limitation, so people all over the state will need to work in their community to alleviate the common problems in their area. AzGreenCaregivers is here to help all aspects of the state in communication. Once a member, everyone in the state can communicate on a professional  level to make Arizona’s medical marijuana community as positive and productive as possible.

This is the first series of questions we are answering, but if you have any more please let us know. We are here to help the Arizona medical marijuana community in anyway.
